What is Whole Body Vibration?

See the video!

Whole Body Vibration has been used since the early 1900's but has been developed since the late 1960's when the Russians used this technology in the development of their athletic programs as well as their Russian Space Programs. Much of this research was done in secret; however, since the fall of communism, Whole Body Vibration has been introduced throughout Europe and is now making its way into the North American market.

There is only one form of Exercise that Engages the Entire Body and that is Whole Body Vibration.

How Whole Body Vibration works!

When a muscle fibre is stretched, it will contract by reflex. By standing on the Platform, vibrations are transmitted throughout the whole body. This causes thousands of muscle contractions which increases muscle tone. The movement of the vibration plate simulates the body's natural reflexes to stretch and contract. Without thinking about it, your body responds with a strong involuntary muscle contraction similar to when your doctor taps on your knee with a reflex hammer. The Whole Body Vibration platforms that we use are the best commercial grade units money can buy (True High HZ and G Forces that most other machines cannot reach, Beware of  Machines with False Claims about their Speed and G Forces). We use all three technologies ie; Vertical, Oscillating and Elliptical (please refer to diagrams below).

We Only Use Commercial Grade Machines...

Three Forms of Whole Body Vibration

Vertical Vibration

Oscillating Vibration

Elliptical Vibration

(aka Vertical Uniform, Straight)

(aka Triangular Oscillating, Vertical Alternate Vibration, Pivotal, Toggle)

(aka Tri Plainer, High-Intensity Vertical, Horizontal)
Vertical Vibration

Oscillating Vibration

Elliptical Vibration

The platform moves straight up and down with no horizontal movement.

One side of the platform elevates up, while the other side lowers down, alternating like a “teeter-totter.”

Elliptical platforms move similarly to vertical units but with more horizontal and less vertical movement.
You can feel vibrations through the top of your head when standing straight. Imagine jumping on a trampoline 03-50 times a second.

You feel a “back and forth” movement focused on your hips and pelvic region. It feels like you are taking 01-30 steps a second.

You feel the vibrations through to the top of your head. It creates 30-45 vibrations per second.

What will Whole Body Vibration do for You?

Whole Body Vibration sessions last ten minutes and when combined with dynamic movements, have been reported to provide you with approximately the same benefits of a one hour workout at the gym. It is fast, convenient and you won't be stiff and sore.

Here's what WBV will do for you:

  • Rapid inch loss (average 3.5 inches in 3 sessions)
  • Builds and tones muscles
  • Builds bone density
  • Drains the lymphatic system
  • Increases circulation
  • Increased flexibility and range of motion
  • Relieves stress and anti-aging
  • Better posture
  • Improved balance
  • Improved sleep patterns
  • Improved mood and more!

Who Can Benefit from Whole Body Vibration?

Anyone that is wanting to increase their energy levels, strengthen muscles and improve general health.

Athletes

Whole Body Vibration is used by athletes, trainers and coaches as part of their training. It has been adopted by sports teams including the Toronto Blue Jays, Calgary Flames, New York Giants, Toronto Maple Leafs, San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Mavericks, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Anaheim Ducks, Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Flyers. In 1998, Dutch Olympic trainer Guus van der Meer adopted vibration technology for Olympic athletes, since then it has been used by dozens of Olympic athletes including some Canadians.

Muscle Tone & Strength

By engaging 97% of the muscle fibres through the stretch reflex response, you can expect Whole Body Vibration to target the Stabilizing Muscles and create over all Muscle Tone & Strength in a fraction of the time and effort it takes through conventional exercise, which only engages 30%-40% muscle fibres!

Inch & Weight loss

Whole Body Vibration works in several ways to help dissolve excess body fat. It increases metabolism, It increases lean muscle tissue, It increases blood circulation and lymphatic drainage there by removing excess fluids and toxins, Human Growth Hormone secretion increases dramatically (460%) and Cortisol levels are reduced by 32%. People who use Whole Body Vibration for 10 minutes three to six times a week lose significantly more body fat than those who engage in aerobic activity alone and another factor that cannot be ignored is that Vibration Users are more likely to keep using the technology when the average Gym user is up to six times more likely stop exercising!

Osteoporosis

WBV is recommended by HEALTH CANADA and the SURGEON GENERAL of the United States* as one of the therapies that can be used in the fight against Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a disease that affects over 1.4 million Canadians. Bones become fragile and more likely to break if left untreated. Bone density will increase significantly if whole body vibration treatments are taken three times per week over the course of twelve months.

Seniors and Others Unable to Exercise Regularly

Whole body vibration is a low impact, non strenuous activity that provides multiple benefits. Age and illness related exercise challenges can be expedited through the use of Whole Body Vibration. By increasing circulation throughout the body without any cardio strain, the client is developing muscle strength, flexibility and assists in the recovery and regeneration of damaged tissues.

Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatism

Whole Body Vibration is proven to help increase blood circulation, flexibility and range of motion without putting stress on the joints. It is a non strenuous form of exercise that has been reported to dramatically ease the pain and discomfort of arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatism.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia

Whole Body Vibration increases blood circulation and improves flexibility and range of motion and has a dramatic effect on those suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Clients have reported increased energy levels, reduced aches and pains and better moods.

Back Problems

Weakened back muscles respond very well to the benefits of Whole Body Vibration. By engaging and activating the muscles, they become stronger and less prone to injury. Whole Body Vibration also significantly strengthens the core stabilizer muscles which assist in reducing strain on the weakened back muscles. A short 10 minute treatment prior to receiving therapeutic massage greatly enhances the therapy as the massage therapist is working with muscles that are already warmed up and fluid.

Multiple Sclerosis

Individuals with MS are unable to exercise or train properly because the brain is no longer capable of communicating with the muscles. Without proper exercise the muscles will eventually atrophy and cause the person to become reduced in their ability to function. WBV allows these individuals to experience strengthening of the muscles, improved balance and coordination.
